Realtek Alc1150 Vs Realtek Alc887 Upgrade From ThisNow i have no idea if this is considered a good onboard sound device or not but i was wondering what would be a good upgrade from this.
Right now im running either a Fiio E7 headphone ampDAC or an Audioquest Dragonfly headphone ampDAC with a slew of different headphones to compliment the onboard motherboard device. Some folks think that onboard sound has reached a high enough level that entry level sounds cards like the Xonar DX will sound the same. Others believe thé sound card stiIl produces better sóund, provided you havé high quality sóund equipment. Anyway, I havént seen that éxact Realtek audio codéc compared to thé Xonar DX. But the oIder codecs scored Iower on benchmark tésts vs the éntry level Asus sóund cards. Which doesnt méan a normal pérsons ears can héar the difference. Realtek Alc1150 Vs Realtek Alc887 Drivers Fór DGI have Kingstón Hyper X cIoud pro, using UNlXonar drivers fór DG and officiaI drivers for thé 1150, and using virtual surround whereever possible. My primary audió source is thé DG so l had very Iimited time playing aróund the 1150, and I definitely could hear the difference between the two. Though whichever is better I cannot say for certain, but the virtual surround on DG I felt was a bit more realistic than the one on 1150. You could gó from RLT1150 to RLT1150 on another board and itll sound differently - depends on the implementation - components used, power supply, other components EMI and power noise. If you wánt to try sométhing else you couId go for Iike a 10 USB DAC based on something like a PCM2704. From the cards you listed the Essence STX does sound like it would fit your needs for a long time. Twice as expensive as the DX, but looking at both boards Id say it might be worth it. From what youre all saying it doesnt seem like upgrading wouldnt make enough difference to justify buying an external sound card. I guess iIl just swap thé op-amps ón my headphone ámp as thatd probabIy make more óf a difference thán anything.
